I had a decent stay at the Hayes Valley Inn. The location was super convenient, right in a quirky neighborhood with lots of food options nearby, but the room was pretty small and dated. I dealt with some noise from the main road outside, and sharing a bathroom was a bit of a hassle, especially when it got busy. However, I loved the fresh breakfast options offered and the friendly staff made my experience a bit smoother overall.

Rooms
6.0
My room was small and quite dated, but it served its purpose for the few nights I stayed. The queen-sized bed was firm and comfortable enough. Just keep in mind there’s no elevator, so be ready for lots of stairs.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and helpful, especially when I needed to store my luggage. They even provided plates for takeout one night, which was a nice touch.
Location
8.0
The location was a real highlight. It was in a lively area with easy access to public transport and some cool shops and bars, though it can be a long walk to the main tourist spots.
Dining
8.0
I really enjoyed the breakfast, which had plenty of fresh options, including healthy choices like fruit salad. There were also complimentary tea and cookies in the afternoons.
Facilities
5.0
The shared bathrooms were generally clean, but could get a bit busy at peak times. The overall atmosphere felt a bit stuffy at times, and the shared kitchen was nice but lacked a working kettle.

7.0/10

I had a comfy stay at Hayes Valley Inn, and the location is fantastic for exploring San Francisco. The shared bathrooms were a bit of a concern initially, but they turned out fine. However, I did have some trouble with the heater making my room warmer than I'd like. Plus, being on a busy street meant some noise, but I was in the city, after all!

Rooms
7.0
The bed was really comfortable, and I appreciated the overall cleanliness. I did experience a few issues, like how there was no door lock inside the room for added privacy. Also, I had hoped for a bigger bed than what I got.
Service
6.0
While I found communication a bit tricky, since I couldn’t reach management easily, I did get quick assistance when I needed help with the entry code. Having the option to store my luggage in the lobby while I explored was nice too.
Location
9.0
The location is unbeatable! Tons of trendy shops and restaurants right nearby, and I felt totally safe wandering around as a solo female traveler. Proximity to public transport made it easy to get around.
Dining
6.0
They offered a simple breakfast, which was a bit of a disappointment as it didn’t match my previous experiences there. Still, I enjoyed using the shared kitchen space for food prep.
Facilities
6.0
Hayes Valley Inn has this old charm that I liked, though some areas showed wear and tear. The shared bathrooms were generally clean, but I noticed some spots needing a quick tidy. It would have also been nice to have more control over the heating in my room.

5.0/10

I enjoyed the location since it was close to many great restaurants, but my overall experience was dampened by poor customer service and noisy surroundings. The shared bathroom situation was less than ideal, with just one shower per floor for many guests. Some areas, like breakfast, could use improvement in selection and quality.

Rooms
5.0
The room was quite small, and I struggled to fit my luggage in. The thin walls led to a noisy stay where I could easily hear conversations from neighboring rooms.
Service
5.0
I found the reception staff to lack friendliness and professionalism. When I had concerns about the key replacement fee, the response was dismissive, which left a negative impression. Also, during check-in, there was hardly any engagement from the staff.
Location
5.0
The hotel is located in Hayes Valley, which is a charming area with plenty of dining options within walking distance. This was definitely a highlight of my stay.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast room was bright and spacious, but the food selection didn't appeal to me. There was an abundance of bread and sugary options, which wasn’t what I expected for the price.
Facilities
5.0
The shared bathroom was generally clean but had only one shower for too many rooms. Additionally, the coffee machine was broken during my stay, and other amenities seemed under-maintained.

5.8/10

I had a mixed experience at Hayes Valley Inn. The location was fantastic, right in a vibrant neighborhood, and the price was reasonable. However, I faced several inconveniences that detracted from my stay, including shared bathroom facilities and less-than-stellar noise control.

Rooms
5.0
My room was cozy with charming decor, but the bedding squeaked with every movement. Plus, I encountered an unwanted noise from nearby rooms that made it hard to rest.
Service
5.0
The staff were friendly, but the front desk service was lacking. I had issues with check-in, needing to wait for assistance, and there was no one available after hours to help with late check-in problems.
Location
10.0
The location was definitely a highlight. I loved being in a lively neighborhood with easy access to restaurants and bars. It’s a short ride to key attractions in the city.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast wasn't offered during my stay, which was disappointing. I would have appreciated a light spread, as I remember it being a perk before.
Facilities
5.0
The shared bathrooms were occasionally inconvenient. with no wash basins and only hand sanitizer, which felt unsanitary at times. Also, the shared kitchen was a nice touch but needed better upkeep.

My stay at Hayes Valley Inn was comfortable and quite a unique experience. The shared bath situation initially made me apprehensive, but everything was clean and I never faced any delays. The location is fantastic, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, although the street noise can be disruptive at night. Overall, it was affordable and a charming choice for my time in San Francisco.

Rooms
8.0
The room was cozy and clean, though I did find it a bit warm due to the heater. The setup includes a sink in the room, which is convenient, but I missed having my own private bathroom.
Service
7.0
The staff was generally helpful, but I found some aspects confusing, such as the availability of room service. The check-in process with the keyless entry app could use improvement as well.
Location
9.0
Being in the heart of Hayes Valley made it easy to explore the area. There are bustling shops and eateries everywhere, and public transport is very accessible.
Dining
8.0
The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch, though I didn’t partake much since I usually left early. The nearby Italian restaurant was a good find!
Facilities
7.0
The shared bathrooms were kept clean, and I appreciated the availability of a common dining room for guests. However, I did encounter a few minor inconveniences with the facilities.
